Shelves are core to how Saganworks helps you store and display your data.
The first way to add items to a shelf is to drag either the KI or FO from their palette onto the shelf. Most shelves will automatically size and place the 3D object for you.
You can also add multiple files to a shelf (and upload them as KIs to the Sagan Drive) by dragging them from your computer’s file explorer onto the shelf. Shelves will fill from the top left corner to the right side and down the shelf automatically. Additional files will still upload to the Drive but will not be placed on the shelf
You can add an existing object to a shelf by dragging it from its current position to the desired location on the shelf. The shelf will guide you to placing this object by displaying available spaces.
Shelves feature a FO edit button that no other FO has: the Sort button. When you look at the edit button toolbar, it is the middle button.
When you press the Sort button, a pull-down menu appears on the right side of the screen.
This allows you to change the order of the KIs on the shelf by different criteria: Object Name, Object Type, Date Added, and Random. To make those changes, select the pull-down option you prefer and select the Sort button below the menu.
Object Name organizes KIs and FOs in alphabetical order from left to right, top to bottom. If your KI is hosted in a KI Holder, the name of that FO is what the organization tool prioritizes. For example, if you have placed a photograph in a frame, the name of the frame is what this tool looks for.
Object Type organizes KIs and FOs by their file type in alphabetical order from left to right, top to bottom. Much like the Object Name, any KI hosted in a KI Holder is looked at as a FO, not a KI.
Date Added organizes KIs and FOs by the date/time they were added to Saganworks, not the shelf itself. These are placed left to right, top to bottom.
Random has no logic in how it places the KIs and FOs. You can continually opt for Random placement until you find an order that you like.
